THE ORANGERY
Historically, an Orangery was a conservatory style, classical building used to showcase exotic plants, while protecting them from the winter cold.
During the 18th Century, these highly coveted additions to Europe's great houses became major status symbols - reflecting their owners' wealth, style and good taste.
The Orangery at Elie House – built on the site of the former family chapel adjacent to the main mansion - is a relevant modern update of this architectural fashion, offering three exquisite, newly constructed townhouses.
Built of mellow dressed stone, this elegant terrace of 5 bedroomed homes echoes the look of a traditional estate Orangery. With glazed internal openings and tall, wide glazed doors, the townhouses are designed to evoke a maximum sense of natural light and space: the east/west orientation allows the morning and evening sun to illuminate the spacious interiors.
Each home extends to approximately 190sqm (2045 sqft), with generous sizes, open plan living areas, large and airy kitchen/dining areas, private gardens and parking.
